About Me

I have enjoyed working with my hands from an early age. From building plastic models to playing around with my father’s tools, I have always been fascinated with how things work. As soon as I was allowed to swing a hammer, turn a wrench, or saw some wood – I was on it! As my skills grew (thanks in large part to my father), I helped out with home improvement projects more and more.

During the first few summers during college, I spent months in Hawaii helping my family build a large retreat center – literally from the ground up! Electrical, plumbing, carpentry, building fences, we did everything! Memories and experience I value a great deal.

Upon graduating from college with a degree in winemaking, I spent the next few years dabbling in various projects, but limited as a renter. Thankfully, family and friends allowed me to keep my skills sharp while helping with their own projects.

In the early 2000s, my wife and I were fortunate enough to purchase our own home in Santa Rosa. While not a true ‘fixer-upper’, it definitely continues to act as a great opportunity to both refine and expand my skills. The first big project we undertook was a complete remodel of our outdated kitchen. I took it down to the subfloor and studs, rewired the entire kitchen (we went from 2 circuits to 7!), installed all new drywall, cabinets, vinyl flooring, solid wood moldings, and laminate countertops. Thankfully, it looks nothing like it did before!

Later, I remodeled the master bathroom. This involved removing the old stall shower and replacing it with a tub & shower. I moved the vanity and sink to the other side of the bathroom, which required moving the doorway and installing a pocket door. After some new flooring, drywall and updated fixtures, I was done.

After making the inside of the house more livable, my attention moved to the front yard. The grass & shrubbery was removed as well as over 20 yards of the heavy clay that constituted my ‘soil’. After bringing in truckloads of new soil, laying flagstone paths and rock borders, and installing extensive drip irrigation, I was ready to plant. That was the easiest part! After some finishing touches such as window boxes, shutters & path lights, we were proud of our new curb appeal!

Most recently, I completed a ~400sqft family room addition to the house. After drawing up the plans for the building permit, I broke ground. Over the course of a few months, the addition took shape and was finally completed after about 6 months. I also took the opportunity to reroof the entire house, as well as upgrade our main electrical panel to allow for the additional circuits for the addition.

While these projects highlight some of the larger undertakings over the years, most of my projects are much smaller. I’ve completed countless electrical upgrades/repairs, faucet repairs and replacements, irrigation installations, etc. etc. etc…

I am also an avid woodworker. I prefer furniture building, and have had the opportunity to create pieces for friends, family and myself. While I have made some projects from pre-drawn plans, I usually design the project as well as build it.

I look forward to sharing my passion & dedication to quality with you & your home!
